Innovative solutions for sustainable port operations through the PIONEERS project.
Vessels often face extended waiting times both during their time in the port and when approaching it. This not only leads to unnecessary emissions, increased costs, and potential safety concerns but also decreases overall port efficiency.
To address these issues, PIONEERS consortium partners MACOMI and Port of Antwerp-Bruges are working on cutting-edge technologies to enhance port operations significantly by reducing ship waiting times and enhancing traffic control in busy port areas. It involves the development of two key technologies: Optimal Lock Planning and a Decision Support System (DSS).
