Autonomous shuttle systems for efficient personnel and cargo transport within port facilities.
In everyday port operations, semi-trailers often need to be shifted inside a facility area for internal transfer or to load/unload external cargo. Currently, this is done by a fleet of manually driven vehicles, causing a negative impact on the carbon footprint.
PIONEERS consortium partners AKKODIS and VDL are developing an automatic system called Logistic as a Service. The purpose is to enhance port operations by making them more efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly.
